it's all calvinball anyway obviously but the way i think this works is that the Voices can shift between larger winged & small wingless forms and shifting between toy & suit is the plush toys'* equivalent of this. the voices can visibly change forms while people are watching - it's very fluid and a little disturbing to watch - but the toys can't (or won't, unclear which) shift while any witnesses can see them.
